Tonsillectomy – Days 3, 4, and 5

I didn’t sleep well at all last night. The fever, combination of medication (I actually tried adding my heart medications to the medications I was taking) and condition of my throat kept me up all night.

I am trying to write this post on day #6 and can’t remember most of what happened on days 3 and 4, my apologies. The only think I can remember is having a fever ranging from around 99.6 – 102, but having the fever completely wipe me out. I felt so out of it, I wasn’t hungry at all, and could not sleep right. When I finally reached the evening of day 3 and my fever had persisted I called the doctor again. The doctor explained that he wanted to prescribe me an antibiotic, which I am guessing would be for some type of lovely infection that had been getting worse and worse after the surgery.

Antibiotic

My wife picked up this prescription for me and I took my first dose before bed that evening. An hour or two later I start sweating and it actually feels like my body is trying to beat off the fever. I am taking a very low grade antibiotic, but it’s strange how some medications take effect so quickly.

Stomach pains and diarrhea

I actually starting getting some bad bouts of diarrhea around midnight last night and they are accompanied by gas pains in my stomach. I know I have been swallowing lot’s of air when drinking water, but I think it has something to do with one of the pain medications I am taking.

My diarrhea and stomach pains continue into day 4, but for some reason I don’t stop taking the pain medication I believe is the culprit till day 5.

In speaking with the doctor last night I failed to mention that he wants to

I’ll have to get back to you regarding these days folks as they really beat me down.

Have something to say? Go for it!
